NAME:
Dee-1 (born David Augustine)
HOMETOWN:
New Orleans
HOW LONG HAVE YOU
BEEN RAPPING:
4 years
SO WHO INFLUENCED YOU
IN THE RAP GAME GROWING UP?
Nas, Tupac, DMX, Cash Money Records, and No Limit Records
WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU
CAN BRING TO THE GAME?
I bring the passion of a man put here to entertain and
empower people with his music. I don't compete with other rappers because I
have my own lane.
HOW DO YOU PLAN TO
SEPERATE YOURSELF FROM OTHER ARTIST?
By just being myself. A few years ago I realized that God
only made one Dee-1, so if I do ME to the fullest, no one can duplicate that.
SO, HOW HAS THE GRIND
FOR YOU TRYING TO BUILD THAT STREET CRED AND GOOD FAN BASE?
Its been hard, but I enjoy the grind. Without struggle there
can be no progress. Thats why I appreciate my success so much now-a-days. Its a
blessing to have my 1st official album, "David & Goliath"
dropping in Mid April. Its a blessing to have been able to perform with people
like Akon, Lupe Fiasco, Juvenile, and Musiq Soulchild. My fanbase is loyal to
me and they keep it 100 with me, so I feel like I have the best fans in the
world.
WHAT'S OUT THERE FOR
THE PEOPLE RIGHT NOW TO HEAR FROM YOU (CD'S/MIXTAPES)?
Currently my "I Am Who I Am" Mixtape is out and my
debut album, "David & Goliath" is dropping APRIL 13th. It'll be
available at Best Buy, online at
dee1music.com,
on I Tunes, and in all mom & pops retailers.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOU?
Dropping my album in mid April... Then I have a bunch of
shows lined up locally and out of town. And I'm also going on a college tour.
MOST RAPPERS FIRST
ALBUM IS REAL LIFE BASED, MOSTLY WHAT THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH, WHAT CAN THE PEOPLE
EXPECT FROM YOU?
This album contains some of the most creative concepts heard
on a cd in a long time. Also, it talks about my real life experiences in a way
that makes the listener feel the same emotions I felt at the time. I didn't get
into this game to be average or ordinary. So although I don't have a major deal
yet, my album definitely stands up to the best hip hop albums that have come
out in recent memory... Can't wait for yall to hear it.
